salmonbelly Returning Adult Registered: 03/12/01 Posts: 359 Loc: Kirkland, Wa USA	Can anybody tell me how the heck hatchery fish came to be known here as "brats?" Does it refer only to hatchery steelhead or salmon too? Don't we already have enough goofy names for fish (ie blackmouth, king, spring, tyee, 'nooks, nookies, etc. for chinook)?

Sounds like there's a few of us who have already taken one or more winter fish this year. Ive only managed rainbow colored summer fish so far. That was the source for the old Game Department's winter run hatchery program. I've never heard of a "Summer's Creek" stock. Also, I don't recall hearing Donaldson's fish referred to as brats, but that sounds plausible. Thanks.
